Pursue the gratitude that follows growth

What clients or markets are you in charge of?

I am primarily responsible for overseas clients. In addition to long-standing customers with whom we maintain stable, ongoing relationships, the number of new clients we have started working with in recent years has also increased, making the ratio of existing to new clients roughly 50/50. Since the overseas market is highly competitive and constantly changing, I always strive to work with flexibility, a sense of urgency, and a focus on building deeper, long-term trust with our clients.

Please tell us a memorable moment you experienced at Autec.

One experience that left a strong impression on me was my first visit to a customer in South Korea. In preparing for the presentation in English, I spent time carefully considering how to phrase my points, while also consulting with my supervisor and colleagues to refine my expressions and make them as clear as possible. Although my delivery was not yet fully fluent, with my supervisor’s support, I can say that I put out my best effort until the very end and made a successful presentation.
Following the meeting, I joined the customer for a meal, which really helped deepen our bond as trade company and client, building report as we discussed even non-work related matters. I realized that especially with overseas clients, meeting face-to-face makes future interactions much smoother. This was a truly valuable experience which taught me that being able to interact directly with the customer strengthened my motivation to give my best effort for them.
One of the most appealing aspects of overseas sales is the opportunity to visit countries I have never been to and experience their local culture and customs. Personally, business trips have sparked my interest in different cuisines and traditions, allowing me to enjoy authentic experiences and gain a closer understanding of each place. These experiences have also motivated me to continue improving my language skills and cross-cultural understanding, providing inspiration both professionally and personally.
I hope to continue visiting many countries, experiencing diverse cultures, and growing both professionally and personally.

How does the team work together and what is the atmosphere like?

Within the team, we share information through sales meetings and weekly reports, and we always maintain open communication while working on our tasks. There is an environment where you can quickly ask questions if something is unclear, and senior colleagues provide careful guidance, making it easy to work with confidence. For tasks that involve using English, we confirm expressions and phrasing with supervisors and colleagues, so there’s a positive atmosphere that helps English skills to improve. Overseas business trips also expand interest in other cultures and languages. For example, my trip to South Korea inspired me to start studying Korean.
At Autec, there is a culture that encourages taking on challenges. Within this warm and cooperative team, everyone can learn from each other and continue to grow.

Message for those considering joining sales as a mid-career hire

I joined the company with no prior experience in the industry or in sales, but thanks to the thorough support from my seniors and supervisors, I have been able to work with confidence. The environment allows me to ask questions without hesitation, which makes it very reassuring for someone like me who’s looking to grow. After work, I also participate in online English lessons and in-house study sessions to improve my skills, so I believe that even beginners with motivation can successfully take on challenges. Overseas trips provide many opportunities to meet clients directly and experience other cultures, and I have found that my work experience has influenced my hobbies and language learning as well.
For those interested in overseas sales, I encourage you to take the first step toward discovering a new side of yourself. I look forward to working with you.

How do you spend your days off? (Hobbies, etc…)

On my days off, I often go to hot springs, enjoy meals or drinks with friends, or go shopping. Time spent with friends is a great mental break. On days when I stay home, I relax by watching movies or TV shows or playing games. Previously, I mainly watched content in English, but since starting to study Korean for work, I now enjoy Korean-language dramas, which has become one of my weekend highlights. I also began listening to K-POP thanks to work experiences, and I feel that these hobbies have directly helped improve my language skills and understanding of other cultures.
